Commander Eric Erskine Campbell Tufnell (1888-1979) - Royal Yacht Britannia
Commander Eric Erskine Campbell Tufnell (1888-1979) was an esteemed Officer in the Royal Navy before becoming an accomplished marine artist in his own right. Tufnell's skill was in the accurate depiction of ships (with a particular interest in naval ones).
This highly detailed watercolour of the Royal Yacht Britannia being escorted by the patrol vessel 'P3103' and the Frigate 'F08' is a fine example by the artist. The Royal Yacht was in service from 1954-1997. This work is likely from the 1950s.
Medium: watercolour on paper, signed l.r. 'E Tufnell', 23.1 x 46.8cm, framed (33.2 x 57.2cm).
Condition report: generally in very good condition. Small amount of time staining and the frame has some wear. Please see photos.
