Copley Fielding (1787-1855) - Waterfall in Perthshire, Scotland

A high quality composition by Copley Fielding of an almost 'Arcadian' waterfall landscape in Perthshire, Scotland. It is reminiscent of other leading watercolourists of the period including David Cox and even JMW Turner's work. 

 

Medium: watercolour on paper, 20.3 x 19.3cm, signed l.l. 'Copley Fielding 1837', framed.

 

Provenance: Sotheby's British and 19th Century Paintings sale 3rd December 2002, lot 30; Abbott & Holder (label verso) where sold for £1,500.

 

Condition report: generally in very good condition. Small amounts of time staining which is most obvious in the upper left hand corner (please see photos).
