Edmund Morison Wimperis R.I. (1835-1900) - Weald of Sussex with a view of Surrey
A bucolic view of the Weald in Sussex with a view of Surrey in the distance. The Weald is an ancient raised tract of forest in the south-east of England which seperates the London basin from the English Channel. It covers the counties of Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent.
Wimperis produced varius works of Sussex and was known for his landscape watercolours. He was a member of the the Royal Society of British Artists and also of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (R.I.), becoming its vice-president in 1895.
