Follower of David Cox O.W.S. (1783-1859) - Wooded Landscape
An interesting early 19th century watercolour of a wooded landscape. Although there is no signature or inscription linking this work to any particular artist it does bear similarities to works by David Cox (1783-1859). The group of trees is well drawn and shows the artist had a good understanding of tone and depth. The figures and animals have touches of bodycolour to help them stand-out which was a technique used by various artists, with Paul Sandby often using this.
Medium: watercolour and bodycolour on paper, 16 x 24.8cm, mounted.
Provenance: Albany Gallery, stock number: 9044.
