Peter De Wint (1784-1849) - A hillside stream
A detailed pen and ink drawing of a hillside stream by De Wint. It perhaps shows a scene in Derbyshire or Lincolnshire. The topography suggests it could be somewhere in the Peak District.
This picture has excellent provenance having stayed in the De Wint family up to his grand-daughter Miss Tatlock. It was then in the prestigious Spink Gallery before being in the collection of the prominent scholar and art critic Terence Mullaly (1927-2020).
Medium: Pencil and pen and brown ink on paper, 19.1 x 19.1cm, framed.
Provenance: Miss H. H. Tatlock, the artist's grand-daughter; Spink, King Street, St James's, London (label verso); Collection of Terence Mullaly.
Condition report: some time staining and foxing on the picture and mount (please see photos).
